About me
Counselling support in person in Fareham, outdoors walk and talk in Lee on the Solent or online
Hi, thank you for visiting my page. I'm Lynsey – I'm proudly registered with the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) as a Counsellor.
As an integrative psychotherapist with experience in corporate, NHS, and education settings, I tailor my approach uniquely to you. I offer a calm, non-judgemental and safe space for you to untangle, and step back from the pressures and expectations of our fast-paced world.
Together we reflect to discover what it is that you truly feel and what you need to move forward with a renewed sense of self, navigating challenges confidently, and embracing a more fulfilling life. I'm all about providing a space where you're not just heard but really listened to. Whether we meet face-to-face in my private consulting room, embark on a walk-and-talk 'outdoor counselling' session, or connect online or via telephone, all you need to bring is you. [More]

My journey:

I know change and I know the transformative power of being heard.
Originally from Birmingham, I now call Lee on the Solent, Hampshire, home. It was my experience of navigating childhood grief to parenting and corporate life, that led me to counselling. Through my own journey, counselling helped me unlock emotions I had long been burying, having the space and time to process and tell my story out loud allowed me to challenge some negative beliefs I had been carrying from childhood. I gained confidence and was able to be kinder to myself, to consider myself as important as those around me so I could look after myself and ask for help when needed. However, it was my experience of redundancy that was the change that led me to where I am today. I recognise that this self-awareness and healing journey is at times extremely uncomfortable but ultimately so worthwhile, as I continue on my journey I consider it an honour to be alongside you on yours.

I love my job, I enjoy supporting those who care for others and since 2017 I've built up experience in places like the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Anxiety UK, Havant and East Hants Mind, The Bereavement Counselling Charity, and recently, supporting amazing teachers and school staff within a primary school setting. I am always learning and I learn the most from my clients.

As an Integrative creative Psychotherapist I'm trained in a variety of different styles and techniques which helps me tailor my approach just for you. From Person-Centered to CBT, Psychoanalytical or a more coaching approach utilising NLP, I'm flexible and keen to make counselling accessible and supportive for you.

Psychotherapist, Counsellor or Therapist - What's the difference?

The terms "counsellor/counselling," "therapist/therapy," and "psychotherapist/psychotherapy" are used interchangeably and can be confusing, and you might be wondering what the differences are?

I am a Psychotherapist (although I tend to use Counsellor as I think its the title that most people are familiar). My Level 5 training, experience and role as a psychotherapist allows for a more in-depth, holistic approach tailored to your unique experiences.

Counsellors generally focus on specific, present issues. Working with people facing immediate challenges, like grief, adjusting to life changes, or managing work stress. Counselling is often shorter-term and found in settings like schools, workplaces, community health services, and private practices.

Psychotherapists—like myself—can support in the same way through counselling but also work on deeper, more long-standing issues that may be rooted in past experiences and affect various areas of life. This work is often longer-term and may explore complex emotional patterns, recurring behaviours, or deep-seated beliefs. Whether working one-on-one, or with groups, psychotherapists help people gain understanding, develop new perspectives, and make lasting positive changes.

I hope this helps clarify the difference, so you are best informed to choose the support that best meets your needs.
